Top Ten Tuesday (8) - Top Ten Favorite Love Stories

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

Each week they post a new prompt for a top ten list, and bloggers fill it out on their blogs.  Everyone is welcome to join.  This is just another way for bloggers to network and get to know one another.  All that's asked is that when you post you put your link and go and visit other's blogs as well.  This gives book bloggers the chance to go and find other blogs to read.

So, welcome to my blog!  Check out what I have to say for this weeks theme, and then click on the image to go and find out what others have to say.  Let me know what you think of my top ten list, and leave a link to yours and I'll check it out.

This week's theme is "Top Ten Love Stories In Books".  This week I don't have much time in creating this post, I apologize in advanced, so everything will be done briefly.  On with the list:

Anna and the French Kiss1.  Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins - Anna and Etienne, this pairing is probably going to reign number one on this list for a very long time.  They were the first couple that truly convinced me they were in love.  I'm not sure what it was... perhaps it dealt with their development as friends first, the clear fact that they cared deeply for one another, and that when they finally came together it was like two cogs working better than ever - as if they hadn't before, because they totally were.  It's just a very beautiful relationship development, and this novel is at the top of my reread list.

Pride And Prejudice2.  Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen - Darcy and Elizabeth, yeah, I went there.  Pretty much a classic choice, but I had to.  I love them both to bits.

Along for the Ride3.  Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen - Eli and Auden make me so very happy.  I love watching their friendship grow.  Eli helps Auden out of her shell and since I relate to Auden it's just nice to see it happen in such a natural way.  So much love for these two.

Just Listen4.  Just Listen by Sarah Dessen - Annabel and Owen, again, it's all about how they help one another.  It's this sense of halves meeting and merging, helping one another grow into something more.  Helping one express themselves, talk, everything.  This is why three of Sarah Dessen's novels are on this list - the characters just help each other, and I find it fantastic.

The Truth About Forever5.  The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen - Macy and Wes, I could keep repeating this stuff I've said before, but I won't.  Dessen's characters are fantastic, I love them and how they work together and grow.

Vampire Academy Signature Edition: A Vampire Academy Novel6.  Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead - Rose and Dimirti, this one couldn't be avoided.  They're just so in tune with one another, they're soulmates.  They're... just... amazing - and I do believe they're in love by the way, but their arc took six books compared to Anna's one.  And then there's the element of fantasy embedded, I'm not sure why that matters, but for some reason it does - for me at least.

The Sky Is Everywhere7.  The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson - Lennie and Joey, I love, love, loved this novel.  Their relationship was very raw and real.  This is another novel at the top of my reread list, it was very beautifully told.

Tess of the D'Urbervilles (Wordsworth Classics)8.  Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy - Tess and Angel, for some reason I just really loved the tragic nature of their relationship.  If Angel hadn't been such a hypocrite, their life could have been smooth sailing, of course life is never that easy.

City of Bones (Mortal Instruments)9.  City of Bones by Cassandra Clare - Clary and Jace, they work for their relationship, and they work through some things that seem pretty much unworkable.  Lots of roadblocks for these two (and I'm guessing more to come) which is why I love them so much.

If I Stay10.  If I Stay by Gayle Forman - Mia and Adam, so we get to see their relationship develop through her memories, and they just seem to fit well (which is why Where She Went is probably going to start out rather torturously for me... -lesigh-).  I loved how much he obviously cared for her, how hard he fought to keep her alive.  Their relationship just sucks you in (let alone the love Mia has for her family - that can be the other half of this, the love story of Mia and her family) and doesn't let you out.

  13. Yes, we both have Anna as #1!

Sadly, I could not put Sarah Dessen on my list because I CAN'T REMEMBER THEM. I fail and must reread them all.
I haven't read Along for the Ride yet. Going to have a Sarah Dessen week in May.

There's so much I could say, but I had fun with this list. I was a little startled that I had difficulty making it to 10. However, I was TIRED when I made my list.

PS: Sarah Dessen is coming to BEA!
